Mardon Sahib Patshahi 9 ate 10
Gurdwara Mardon Sahib Patshahi 9 ate 10
- Mardon is an old village, 15 kilometres
south of Ambala City along the Ambala-Barnala
road. It was visited both by Guru Tegh
Bahadur and by Guru Gobind Singh. According
to Mahan Kosh, separate shrines dedicated
to the two Gurus existed near the village,
but now a common Gurdwara Mardon Sahib
Patshahi 9 ate 10 has been established
on the right bank of the river Tangari
where approach road to the village branches
off from the main Ambala-Barnala road.
The Gurdwara owns 120 acres of land; the
Gurdwara complex therefore, also includes
the vast farmhouse. Like the old shrines
near the village, there are separate sanctums
for the two Gurus. The one dedicated to
Guru Tegh Bahadur comprises a square domed
room, where Guru Granth Sahib is seated,
and the adjoining divan-hall. A separate
low-domed small room is in the memory
of Guru Gobind Singh. Guru Granth Sahib
is seated here also.
